Established in 1982

In 1979 a group of monks of the sylvestro- Benedictine Order headed by the late Dom. George came to North India with the intention of establishing a Benedictine monastic presence in this Non Christian area.  They vested different mission stations in the Indian Diocese and at the end settled down in shivpuri.- Jhansi Diocese.  The interest and support or Rt.Rev. Frederic D'Souza, Bishop of Jhansi helped the monks to establish themselves in this new soil.,  In 1982 foundation was laid for Jeecan Jyoti community.  The first community members were Frs. Dom. George Kuthukallunkal, Haugh Thekkel, Jacob puthuparambil and  Bernard Kallakavunkal.  During the past years the Benedictines extended their apostolate all over shivpuri District.  The fathers provides spiritual ministry to all far away places like Bairas,Karera,Pitchor an Kanyadana.

At the present the monks are engaged in various activities in Jeevan Jyoti Parish, St.Benedict School, Formation of candidates of the monastery, conducting retreats and other apostolate.  Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Kaithathara gives guidance and direction to all our mission activities.
